About the Courses

For the CSEA-represented NYS employees there are over 2600 SkillSoft courses and two Partnership Labor-Management courses available to take. Visit the online learning course catalog for a listing of all courses and their course descriptions.

For the NYS managers who are not represented by CSEA, and labor-management committee co-chairs (management representatives) there are two Partnerships Labor-Management courses you may take. Courses (or Libraries)

Courses are broken into three categories (or libraries): SkillSoft, SkillSoft GoTrain, and the Partnership Labor-Management library.

SkillSoft – This library contains a wide variety of courses on topics of personal and professional interest. Professional development courses on topics such as Business Math, Communications, and Problem Solving are available. Personal interest courses cover topics like Home Buying, Personal Finances, and Digital Cameras. Some of the computer-related course titles include Getting Started with Windows Vista, Fundamentals of Internet Explorer 7, and Design Concepts for Web Sites. Some of the categories of courses in this library include:

  • Human Resources
  • Management
  • Personal Development
  • Customer Service
  • Leadership
  • Operations
  • Personal Computer
  • IT End-User
  • IT Professionals

SkillSoft GoTrain – A limited number of spaces for this library are available for participants. It covers Health, Safety, Environmental and Transportation titles such as Back Safety, Confined-Space Entry, Spill Prevention and Control, Forklift Safety, and DOT1: Hazardous Materials Table.

Partnership Labor-Management Library – This library contains courses on the topic of Labor-Management relations and processes. Two courses are available:

  • Labor-Management Committee Basics
  • Working With the Contract

Certificates

If you complete an online course, and earn a score of at least 70% on the final test, you are entitled to a Certificate of Participation in that course. If you score at least 80% on the final test of the course, you are entitled to receive a Certificate of Achievement. To receive this certificate you must complete a course evaluation form online.

College Credit

You may be able to receive college credit for some of the SkillSoft courses that you take through the Partnership’s Online Learning program at your educational institution. Every college has different policies and procedures for granting credit for these types of courses. If you are interested in learning more about getting credits for online learning courses, please contact an advisor at your educational institution.
