Accident Recordkeeping – 4 HoursIn January 2003, the Public Employees Safety and Health Administration (PESH) adopted the accident recordkeeping standards passed by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA). This course is for personnel responsible for completing, interpreting and posting the DOSH 900 for their agency/facility. Participants will be able to:
Confined Space Entry and Rescue – 1 ½ DaysMany workplaces contain spaces that are considered "confined" because their configurations hinder the activities of any employees who must enter, work in, and exit them. The course will cover the specifics of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standard and assist employees operating within these environments to work more efficiently and safely. Participants will be able to:
Excavation and Trenching Safety – 1 DayExcavation and trenching are among the most hazardous construction operations. The fatality rate for excavation work is 112% higher than the rate for general construction. OSHA’s Excavation and Trenching standard 29 CFR 1926.650 covers requirements for this type of work. This course will review key elements of the standard, discuss ways to protect employees against cave-ins, and describe safe work practices. Participants will be able to:
Fall Prevention and Protection – 6 HoursFalls are the second leading cause of death each year. More than 10,000 people are killed each year and 200,000-300,000 people are disabled in someway. Participants will be able to:
Forklift Operator Safety – 1 DayThis course is designed for lift truck operators and employees who work in close proximity to lift trucks. Emphasis is placed where participants need it – on safe operation and maintenance of powered hand trucks, lift trucks and forklifts. OSHA standards are highlighted to illustrate the significance and application of key training points. Participants will be able to:
Hazardous Communications/Right-to-Know – 4 HoursDespite being in existence since 1980, the Hazardous Communications Regulation is still one of the top 10 most cited regulations in the United States. Topics covered in this course include the definition of a toxic substance, a general overview of the State’s Right-to-Know Law and its provisions, employees’ rights and responsibilities, the Material Safety Data Sheet, the importance of chemical labeling, personal protective equipment and developing a hazard identification and control plan. Participants will learn how to:
Hazardous Energy Control (Lockout/Tagout) – 4 HoursThe Hazardous Energy Control (Lockout/Tagout) standard protects approximately 3.3 million employees nationally. The standard was devised to completely isolate energy from equipment during service and maintenance and, thus, prevent employee injuries or death. This course will cover basic causes for energy system and material failure, energy/hazard relationship, and methods of control. Participants will be able to:
Heavy Equipment Operation Safety – 6 HoursOver 100 people each year are killed by heavy equipment. This course will review the participants’ understanding of OSHA and PESH regulations regarding heavy equipment safety, general construction safety, inspection, maintenance, and operation. Participants will be able to:
Lead Awareness – 3 HoursWhen absorbed into the body in certain doses, lead is a toxic substance. This course will explain how lead gets into the body and how best to minimize exposure. The information presented is intended to educate participants about the immediate toxic effects of lead as well as the serious health effects that may not become apparent until years of exposure have passed. Lead can be absorbed into the body by inhalation (breathing) and ingestion (eating). This course is consistent with the OSHA 29 CFR 1926.62 regulation. Participants will be able to: Describe the health hazards associated with lead Scaffolding Safety (assembly, use and disassembly) – 1 DayThis course is designed to enhance employees’ knowledge and skills related to scaffold use and safety. The course is a combination of classroom as well as hands on training. Participants will learn and demonstrate proper scaffold erection, dismantling, and inspection techniques. The classroom portion will cover an introduction to OSHA standards, scaffold hazards, and inspection procedures. Participants will be able to:
Workplace Safety and Security – 4 HoursViolence in the workplace has become one of the leading safety and health issues. In its most extreme form, workers have lost their lives. This has become the third leading cause of fatal occupational injury in the United States. Participants will be able to:
