The Fundamentals of Labor-Management Committees

Length: 1-Hour Webinar
Course Category: Labor-Management Services

This webinar explores how a strong Labor-Management Committee (LMC) helps meet the three LMC objectives: advance agency’s mission; improve the quality of work-life; and enhance labor relations across the board. It provides an overview of the importance of strong relationships and structure for new committees, provides a review for fully functioning committees, and offers additional support or guidance. Benefits to L-M cooperation, challenges committees face, and strategies to overcome them will also be discussed. An overview of the structural (or procedural) aspects will be presented, including committee composition, co-chair and member responsibilities, agenda preparation, meetings, meeting notes, ground rules, and dispute resolution.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe what a Labor-Management Committee is and who serves on it.
  • Recognize benefits and barriers to Labor-Management cooperation.
  • Identify ways committees can strengthen relationships and structure.
